It's a sophisticated method that artfully interweaves the original song’s melody, rhythm, and poetic essence with the target language. This results in a seamless and expressive rendition that resonates with its new audience while preserving the original's musical integrity, emotional resonance, and contextual relevance. In essence, harmonized translation is a profound way of connecting languages and cultures through the power of music, inspiring a new level of creativity in the translation process. Compared to traditional translation theories, which encompass lyrics and poems as discussed by Munday, J. (2016), harmonized translation emphasizes measurable qualities necessary for achieving what can succinctly be described as fidelity.
2024-07-30T11:04:08+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Aleksandar Perisic https://jurnal.unupurwokerto.ac.id/index.php/educalitra/article/view/339 The Interpretations of Eternalism in Reality Club’s 2112 2024-07-31T00:47:19+00:00 Rommel Utungga Pasopati rommelpasopati@yahoo.com Dimas Rakhmat Sasmita drssss@mail.com Liora Samantha Valent Santoso liorasaaaaa@mail.com Wiwin Anggraeni Kurniawati wiwiwiwiwin@mail.com Rindrah Kartiningsih rindrah.kartiningsih@unitomo.ac.id
This paper exposes the matter of eternalism in the song of 2112 by Reality Club. By accentuating the theory of eternalism by J. M. E. McTaggart, eternalism is underlined in how all existence in time is equally real. In analysis, the song of 2112 depicts a love story that goes on since the couples were teenagers. Things are getting more complicated since they could not be together but they still have feelings of comfort and togetherness as if they live in eternal times. The memories keep going on though the time moves forward. It proves that the block universe of past, present and future events are all on an equal footing. In conclusion, the song reflects the matter of eternalism in the points of memories, not as past understandings, but as an open future towards any determinism in showing that any event is always interpreted through any matter of time.
2024-07-30T10:58:15+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Rommel Utungga Pasopati, Dimas Rakhmat Sasmita, Liora Samantha Valent Santoso, Wiwin Anggraeni Kurniawati, Rindrah Kartiningsih https://jurnal.unupurwokerto.ac.id/index.php/educalitra/article/view/287 Unity of Plot: Aristotelian Concept of Plotting in Suresh Triveni’s Jalsa (2022) 2024-07-31T00:47:19+00:00 Muhammad Ansar muhammadansar7021@gmail.com Aqsa Saeed aqsa159@gmail.com
Suresh Triveni’s Jalsa: A Film (2022) centers a tragic tale of car accident which predominantly involves two ladies; Maya, a chief journalist and Rukhsana, a cook. The film opens with a hit and run case; Aliya, the daughter of Rukhsana, hit by exhausted Maya and left her in a pool of blood. This incident integrates more characters into the already overstuffed plot; complicit cops, a trainee reporter and a cocky young son of an ambitious politician. Hence, the rarely and never simple plot continues with an intriguing story-line and elements of surprise further. Pertaining to previous, the purpose of this paper is to explore how these distinctive perspectives are convincing to one action and constitute a unified whole. In order to analyze the tightly-executed plot, this paper will utilize the concept of unity-of-plot proposed by Aristotle. In his Poetics (Chapter, VIII), Aristotle defines plot as soul of tragedy and emphasizes on plot as an artistic whole. Moreover, to testify the unity of plot, Aristotle argues that the plot should be grasped by each of its parts without distorting the meaning of the whole. Additionally, the primary intent of this study is to explore how the plot of the chosen film is executed artistically.
2024-07-30T11:07:51+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Muhammad Ansar Maqbool https://jurnal.unupurwokerto.ac.id/index.php/educalitra/article/view/291 Balancing Self-Love: A Dichotomy of Amour Propre and Amour De Soi in Button Button by Richard Matheson 2024-07-31T00:47:19+00:00 Muhammad Javaid Anwar raojavaid96@gmail.com Fazila Saeed fazila.saeed@yahoo.com
Amour Propre, which is frequently interpreted as self-love or self-esteem is reflected in the intentions and deeds of the characters in literary works. This study examines Richard Matheson's short story Button, Button through the lens of Jean-Jacques Rousseau's concepts of Amour De Soi and Amour-Propre. The purpose of the study is to analyze how the characters of Norma and Arthur embody these concepts with Arthur representing Amour De Soi and Norma exemplifying corrupted Amour-Propre. Utilizing a qualitative analysis approach, the study explores the characters' actions and motivations within the narrative to uncover the implications of their respective forms of self-love. The findings reveal the dangers of allowing Amour- Propre to become excessive or corruptible as seen through Norma's relentless pursuit of material desires leading to tragic consequences. Furthermore, the study underscores the importance of maintaining a balance between self-love and consideration for others highlighting the virtues of a more balanced and self-respecting approach to life as demonstrated by Arthur's contrasting fate.
2024-07-30T11:06:38+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Javaid Anwar https://jurnal.unupurwokerto.ac.id/index.php/educalitra/article/view/294 The Students' Perception on Grade-Point Average (GPA) Score in Online Learning 2024-07-31T00:47:19+00:00 Isvina Unaizahroya Isvinapbg@gmail.com Dinar Faiza dinarfaiza1689@gmail.com Meilina Haris Mayekti meilina.haris@gmail.com
The purposes of this research were to identify the students’ perception on GPA score in online learning in English Language Education study program of Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Purwokerto, and to analyze the students’ perception of the factors affecting English Language Education’s batch 2019 of Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Purwokerto GPA score. The Pandemic gave a lot of benefits in the educational field. As we know online learning has been used since a long time ago supporting teaching and learning material using the website. Many people create an application and modern websites like Zoom, G-meet, on class, etc. That application supported almost everyone because it allowed for the flexible delivery of information via audio-visuals no matter time or place. However, online learning also needs to be implemented to know students’ motivation, responsibility, and learning behavior.
Problem-solving that the University of Muhammadiyah Purwokerto used was implementing blended learning both online 60% and offline 40%. Research data was collected via semi-structured interviews using purposive sampling, targeting five English language education students at a private faith-based university in Purwokerto. The findings indicate that students understand the use of ChatGPT and can effectively use prompts to interact with it. The study also indicates that participants generally use ChatGPT to assist with completing assignments, language learning, and writing their final projects. Participants commonly found that ChatGPT provided inaccurate information and lacked contextual understanding. To address these challenges, they cross-referenced information from ChatGPT with their own knowledge and reliable sources. The study also identified potential challenges such as plagiarism, using ChatGPT for cheating, and dependency on ChatGPT to complete assignments. This study supports the notion that ChatGPT can facilitate and support the language learning process for students.
2024-07-30T10:59:48+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Adha Mariafif, Tono Suwartono
